Town of Black Creek
Sanitary Sewer System Rehabilitation
Town of Black Creek, North Carolina
Since early 2008, Bartlett Engineering has been working with the Town of Black Creek to identify areas of inflow / infiltration in their sanitary sewer system. Our initial sewer flow evaluation study confirmed that the Town's collection system was experiencing severe infiltration during rainfall events.
Armed with this information, the Town of Black Creek was awarded a North Carolina Rural Center planning grant for sewer line video inspection. In an effort to pinpoint the areas of infiltration, approximately 38,000 linear feet of gravity sewer line has been inspected since June 2009. Bartlett Engineering has evaluated the videotapes, analyzed various mitigative alternatives and prepared a Preliminary Engineering Report that outlines a $1.1 million "Sanitary Sewer System Rehabilitation" project solution.
Bartlett Engineering is scheduled to begin the project design phase in April 2010. Upon completion of construction, the sanitary sewer system rehabilitation will save the Town of Black Creek more than $50,000 annually in excess sewer treatment charges.
