Quiet Time 8-28-09:  No Excuses!

There are no excuses for not sharing my Quiet Time over the last two months.  I try not to offer excuses for anything.  It’s not that I don’t try to understand the reason for things; after all, avoiding being in a position that it seems an excuse is needed may be the best course of action.  In short, it may be important to understand why we have done something we shouldn’t (or not done something we should have), but offering an excuse for it is pointless.  In way or another, “the reason” always boils down to focus; either a lack of focus or a focus on the wrong thing.

I think of all the excuses Jesus could have come up with to not follow God’s will and be crucified on the cross for our sins so that we may have eternal life.  Here are just a few:

·        Many of them may never hear about it

·        Many that hear about it will not understand it

·        Many that understand it will not believe it

·        Many that believe it will not receive it

·        Many that receive it will not live it

·        Many that receive it will not share it

·        They really aren’t worth it

Sadly, these excuses are valid and no one could have faulted Jesus for using any one of them.  Praise God that Jesus stayed focused on his Father’s will and understood love, grace and mercy to be the reason to sacrifice his life.  We can never change the last excuse listed above.  We will never be worthy of the precious gift of salvation.  What we can do is try to prove the other excuses to be false.  If your are reading this now, just follow the links below and the first one on the list will never again apply to you.
