Utility Relocation and Improvements (featured on Home Page)
Barton College Area
Wilson, North Carolina
The City of Wilson, in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, has recently completed utility relocation and improvements at a busy intersection adjacent to Barton College. The utility improvements were the beginning phase of a broader project that included converting the existing one-way traffic patterns on ACC Drive and Raleigh Road to two-lane, two-way patterns. A roundabout is being constructed at the intersection of ACC Drive, Raleigh Road and Corbett Avenue, as well. The transformation of the area is an effort to calm traffic flow and to spur economic growth.
Bartlett Engineering was charged with designing the utility improvements and preparing construction plans for the City's portion of the project.
Children's Building Addition (featured on Home Page)
Peace Church
Wilson, North Carolina
Peace Church was experiencing a problem ... a good problem. Lots of children and too little room! Thus, the beginning of what would become a 28,000 square foot addition to the church was set in motion. Today, the completed building includes a check-in lobby, nurseries and playrooms on the main floor, as well as classrooms for kindergarten through fifth grade on the upper level. The project also added another 185 parking spaces to the campus to accommodate the church's growth.
The Children's Building was designed by Faulkner Architecture, PLLC, an architectural design firm located in Wilson. Bartlett Engineering was pleased to partner with Faulkner Architecture to provide civil / site planning and design services.

"Surge" Student Center (featured on Home page)
Farmington Heights Church
Wilson, North Carolina
A ten-year vision in the making, the Surge Center at Farmington Heights Church became a reality this summer upon completion of the $3.2 million facility. Each week, hundreds of students, many who feel broken, alone and empty, step through the doors and experience the very real and life-changing love of God. In addition to the ministry going forth in the 325-seat sanctuary, the ultra-modern facility is accented with a cafe, lounge area, bookstore, classrooms and an amazing array of multimedia outlets.
As a company that whole-heartedly adheres to Christian principles, Bartlett Engineering delighted in the opportunity to provide civil / site planning and design for the Surge Center, as well as the necessary construction survey staking services.
Sanitary Sewer System Rehabilitation
Town of Black Creek, North Carolina
Since early 2008, Bartlett Engineering has been working with the Town of Black Creek to identify areas of inflow / infiltration in their sanitary sewer system. Our initial sewer flow evaluation study confirmed that the Town's collection system was experiencing severe infiltration during rainfall events.
Armed with this information, the Town of Black Creek was awarded a North Carolina Rural Center planning grant for sewer line video inspection. In an effort to pinpoint the areas of infiltration, approximately 38,000 linear feet of gravity sewer line has been inspected since June 2009. Bartlett Engineering has evaluated the videotapes, analyzed various mitigative alternatives and prepared a Preliminary Engineering Report that outlines a $1.1 million "Sanitary Sewer System Rehabilitation" project solution.
Bartlett Engineering is scheduled to begin the project design phase in April 2010. Upon completion of construction, the sanitary sewer system rehabilitation will save the Town of Black Creek more than $50,000 annually in excess sewer treatment charges.
